Adams wants commission to examine city

University City has spent the first three months of 2006 looking to the past for its yearlong centennial celebration. But Mayor Joe Adams wants to ensure the city looks to the future as well, especially with the imminent selection of a new city manager.

Because a pending change in city management — the
first in 26 years — is fast approaching, Adams is

 

proposing a commission to make recommendations to the City Council on the future
of the city. The commission will assess the delivery of city services and the city's approach to commercial and residential development.

"I'm proposing this commission because we're moving to the second century of our city," Adams said of what he has dubbed the Second Century Commission. "Let's take a fresh look at how we're doing things."  Read the full article
